DANCE ACADEMY SOUTH WEST

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
For entry to the DDE course, you need to show ability to dance at Intermediate level or already have your Intermediate examination. You may be asked to attend classes to demonstrate this or show certificates to prove you have reached this level.

As there is an academic requirement to the course, a minimum of GCSE level English and Maths is also a requirement.

You will be asked to attend an interview to discuss what the course will cover and to check that it is the right teaching qualification for you.
FEES

Trainee Teachers: If you are attending regularly on our weekday classes, your first DDE subject is charged at £200 per term, for each additional genre studied, at the same time, add on £100 per term e.g. 2 DDE genres Modern and Tap would be £300 and 3 DDE genres Modern, Tap & Ballet would be £400. This fee also includes open classes and syllabus classes in the genre which are needed to keep up your own level of technique and to help with choreographic ideas. You may pay your account off in chunks but the whole amount should be cleared by half term. There is NO 'pay as you go' rate for teaching classes as you need to be committed to your classes to be successful and achieve.

For those who are training by attending Intensive Courses on Sundays or holiday periods these will be charged at £30 per session (3 hour sessions).

Teachers Written Units Only (when studied outside of the practical element of the course):
Unit 1 - Preparing for Safe Dance Teaching - Tutoring fee £100
Unit 2 - Observing, Assisting and Teaching Practice - Tutoring fee £200
Unit 5 - Social, Emotional and Cognitive Development - Tutoring fee £100
There may be additional fees incurred on top if excessive tutoring is required or the Tutor has to travel to other venues to assess.

Additional Open Classes: There are several open classes you can attend to keep up and extend your own level of training, learn choreography, and inspire you to help with your teacher training course. Some of these are in the day time and others in the evenings or weekends. These are all 'pay go' classes.
If you have complicated requirements that do not fit around the set days, please speak to us to agree your timetable and rate.
